Exciting News for Cinema Lovers
Hyderabad: The team behind the legendary film Shiva, directed by Ram Gopal Varma and starring Nagarjuna Akkineni alongside Amala, has revealed plans for a re-release on November 14, 2025.
Nagarjuna, who not only starred in the film but also produced it through his Annapurna Studios, shared the news on his social media account.
He expressed, "On my beloved father ANR's birthday, I'm thrilled to announce that the film that transformed Indian cinema is returning to theaters. @AnnapurnaStdios and @RGVzoomin's groundbreaking film #SHIVA will be back in cinemas on NOVEMBER 14TH, 2025. Originally released in 1989, Shiva became a massive hit and is now regarded as a cult classic. The film was known as Udhayam in Tamil and also achieved significant success.
In response to Nagarjuna's announcement, director Ram Gopal Varma tweeted, "Hey @iamnagarjuna, it’s not a children’s film, but returning on Children’s Day will bring joy to many faces."

The narrative of Shiva centers around its titular character and draws inspiration from Varma's own experiences as an engineering student. The film is celebrated for its thrilling action scenes and memorable soundtrack composed by Ilaiyaraaja. Cinematography was handled by S Gopala Reddy, with editing by Sattibabu.
In addition to Nagarjuna and Amala, the cast included notable actors such as Raghuvaran, Tanikella Bharani, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Murali Mohan, Gollapudi Maruthi Rao, Chakravarthy, and Sai Chand.
